FOOD SAFETY CULTURE

Food safety culture means we work as a team to share food safety values and practices.

W.D. Henry grows its produce using best practice standards. We strive to adapt and make proactive improvements to our food safety practices each year.

We work together to uphold our policies for monitoring, cleaning, and sanitization. This shared commitment to a food safety mindset becomes second nature and a part of our team’s daily routine.

Food Safety Audits

W.D. Henry undergoes annual third-party audits, conducts regular water testing, and internal audits. We are PrimusGFS certified, a Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) recognized audit program.

Sustainability

Our goal is to help future generations understand the importance of agriculture, soil health, and environmental responsibility—just as we have for generations.

Path Through Wheat cover crop

Sustainability

We plant cover crops, practice crop rotation, and maintain field drainage systems to build nutrient rich soil and prevent erosion. To conserve water the majority of our crops are watered using drip irrigation.

Harvesting Green Peppers

Integrated Pest Management

We utilize Integrated Pest Management (IPM) to monitor for harmful pests and diseases in our fields. Our team collaborates with Cornell Cooperative Extension to verify pest monitoring results.

Bee Pollinating Flower

Biodiversity

We work with local beekeepers to place honeybee hives alongside our fields. The buffer areas between fields are rich in pollinator-friendly plants that help support biodiversity.
